According to this study the potential for newcomers to “affiliate”
or join AA is much enhanced if they have a prior favourable
impression of AA members including their “sincerity” (or absence
of hypocrisy), and particularly those “who quietly and without
fanfare live up to the principles of the group”.
Apparently
circuit speakers, 'gurus' and sundry Big Book 'experts' are not
'essentials' to recovery after all!
