A comment
by another member on Jan BB's rant (c/o AA conference question forum)(no screen shots
unfortunately … we missed this one before it was 'moderated' out of
existence! Fortunately they sent us the transcript)
“Ah!
Personal invective! Always the clincher in any rational argument! I'd
be curious to know what relevance any member's alleged involvement in
any website, blog [ie. aacultwatch] or indeed outside enterprise has
to their participation in this forum (and indeed whether they choose
to cite this or that information (unattributed) in this particular
context, and in whatever fashion they elect and even at length
(subject to site censorship). Personally I quite like to see a
subject argued (well or badly according to the debater's skill) but
with as much substantial detail supplied as possible – or to put
the matter another way - if the point has to be 'hammered' home let
it be done thoroughly! As for the question itself the complexity of
the debate points clearly in only one direction – leave matters be.
Links only to the AA service structure (which last time I looked
includes both local and national bodies – something to do with the
unity I would guess) – anything else implies endorsement (with or
without yet another meaningless disclaimer). Such avoids the
necessity of monitoring content, deliberations by this committee or
that as to its suitability, evasions of responsibility (ie. as in the
aforementioned use of vacuous disclaimers) and resultant decisions
which will almost inevitably please nobody (and which will probably
be ignored anyway by those who have no interest in observing our
Traditions). As an illustration of the fallibility of such monitoring
bodies one has to look no further than to the links cited above by
the moderator as acceptable in this forum. Out of curiosity I 'cut
and pasted' (is that permissible?) one of these:
“www.aa-conference.org.uk” into the browser
window and came up with: “There is no website on this domain”.
Way to go!
Incidentally
I've had a couple of my contributions in this forum appear on the
aforementioned blog. Does this mean that it belongs to me as well? I
can feel a 'Spartacus' moment coming on! Or maybe that's just my
“obsessive, paranoid negative” character manifesting itself! Mind
you as I recall the gladiator in question had good reason to feel
somewhat persecuted – what with being chased from one end of Italy
to the other by hordes of vengeful legionnaires! Either way I'm sure
'The Fellas (Friends of Alcoholics Anonymous)' (see any reputable
search engine) will be highly amused at the reference!”

The
Fellas (Friends of Alcoholics Anonymous …
and highly amused!)
